Linda P. Calnan, senior investment officer, was appointed interim chief investment officer of the $3.8 billion Houston Firefighters' Relief and Retirement Fund, said Chairman Todd E. Clark.
Ms. Calnan will replace Christopher Gonzales, effective Sept. 13, who has taken a position with a corporate retirement plan. He declined to name the company.
Mr. Clark said it's likely the pension fund will launch a nationwide search for a permanent CIO and that Ms. Calnan will be considered.
Also, the board at a special meeting on Aug. 28 discussed Mayor Annise Parker's proposed pension plan for new firefighters. Mr. Clark said fund officials are monitoring the situation and have warned city officials that the proposed plan is “illegal.”
