Tristan Thomas and Greg Jones joined the hedge funds-of-funds unit of Northern Trust Asset Management.
Mr. Thomas is director of portfolio strategy, responsible for hedge funds-of-funds portfolio construction and monitoring as well as the development of customized hedge fund-of-funds portfolios.
Mr. Jones is an analyst, covering global macro, relative value and managed futures hedge funds.
Both positions are new, said John O'Connell, a company spokesman, in an e-mail.
Mr. Thomas was senior vice president, hedge fund research, at hedge funds-of-funds manager Mesirow Advanced Strategies. His responsibilities are “being shared among the existing team, while we consider a replacement,” said Mesirow spokeswoman Katie Whalen Schimmel in an e-mail.
Mr. Jones was a director at alternative investment consultant Cliffwater. Like Mr. Thomas, he was involved in hedge fund manager research and due diligence and was responsible for covering the global macro strategy complex.
Stephen L. Nesbitt, Cliffwater's CEO, said in an e-mail that Mr. Jones' replacement has not been named yet.
