Joe Moody joined Allianz Global Investors as head of international solutions specialists in the U.S., U.K., continental Europe ex-Germany and Japan, he said.
The role is new, and Mr. Moody is responsible for delivering the firm’s risk and pension management services to clients, and for driving the international expansion of the solutions business. Mr. Moody is also a member of the AllianzGI global solutions management team. Based in London, he reports to Arun Ratra, head of global solutions and member of the global executive committee of AllianzGI.
In a telephone interview, Mr. Moody said there are a number of different capabilities across Europe, the U.S., Japan, Canada and the U.K. at AllianzGI. “We are trying to build on the strength of that and expand into those different markets. We already have a strong presence in different guises … but it is about understanding the different market issues and delivering solutions,” he said.
There is an existing solutions team, and Mr. Moody will pick up a number of reporting lines in different countries. “In addition to that I have a mandate to hire people in different markets — it is a great opportunity for me to work and find talented people that are keen to bring their skillset, (and be) part of a longer-term commitment to building out solutions,” he said. The global solutions business advises on €41 billion ($54.9 billion) of client assets.
Mr. Moody was previously senior independent adviser to Pacific Global Advisors. Spokesmen could not be reached for comment by press time.
Prior to that, he worked at State Street Global Advisors in London as a managing director, responsible for liability-driven investing and multiasset solutions.
