Ashish Goyal and Robert Holmes were appointed to ING Investment Management International’s emerging market equity team, said a spokesman.
Mr. Goyal joins Oct. 1 as head of the emerging market equity team, and will be based in Singapore. Mr. Holmes, who joins early next month, will be a senior portfolio manager based in London.
The roles are new.
The spokesman said the emerging market equity team used to be part of the larger core equity boutique. With Mr. Goyal’s appointment, the emerging market equity part has become a separate boutique.
“We believe emerging market equity is regaining interest,” a spokesman for ING said in an e-mailed comment. “Therefore, we are expanding on our emerging market equity capacity and capabilities.”
Mr. Goyal will report to Eric Siegloff, deputy chief investment officer at ING Investment Management International. He was previously at Eastspring Investments. Further details could not be learned by press time. A spokeswoman for Eastspring could not be reached for comment by press time.
Mr. Holmes will take on responsibility for the firm’s emerging Europe strategies. He was previously a fund manager at Griffin Capital Management. Spokesmen for Griffin could not be reached by press time.
