Anchorage (Alaska) Police and Fire Retirement System is searching for an active domestic small-cap equity manager to run approximately $14 million, said Edward Jarvis, director.
An RFI is being prepared. Callan Associates, investment consultant to the $347 million pension fund will conduct the search.
Scott Brown, spokesman for Callan, could not be reached for additional information on the search by press time.
The search is being conducted due to the termination in July of Columbia Management Investment Advisers, which managed a $14 million active domestic small-cap growth equity strategy.
Columbia was terminated for performance, said Mr. Jarvis. The funds have temporarily been placed in a Russell Investments small-cap growth index fund.
Ryan Lund, spokesman for Columbia Management, declined to comment.
Separately, the pension fund terminated Wellington Management, which ran a $35 million domestic large-cap growth equity strategy, said Mr. Jarvis.
Wellington was also terminated for performance, said Mr. Jarvis.
Funds have been placed in a Russell Investments large-cap growth index fund.
Sara Lou Sherman, spokeswoman for Wellington, declined to comment.
The pension fund has a 32% target allocation to domestic large-cap equity and 8% allocation to domestic small- and midcap equity.
