Texas Southern University, Houston, is searching for an investment consultant or outsourced CIO for its $46.5 million endowment, said Louis Edwards, treasurer for the university.
The incumbent consultant, which Mr. Edwards declined to name, can rebid.
The search is being conducted as a best practices measure. The university is “not utilizing an outsourced CIO currently,” but will consider proposals from outsourced CIO firms, Mr. Edwards said.
As of June 30, the endowment’s asset allocation was 63% domestic equity, 14% U.S. government fixed income, 10% domestic fixed income, 6% global equity and the rest in cash.
The RFP is available on a state procurement website.
Proposals are due by 3 p.m. CDT on Sept. 30. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for January, with a hiring decision anticipated in the first quarter.
