Fortress Investment Group closed its Worldwide Transportation and Infrastructure Investors fund at about $1 billion, said Sanam Heidary, a Fortress spokeswoman.
The private equity fund originally raised $395 million last year but was reopened, gaining additional capital commitments of $600 million. The fund's portfolio contains a mix of transportation and value-added infrastructure projects including railway lines, railcars and terminals, shipping, offshore energy and jet engines.
Investors that committed in the new round of fundraising includes the $100.6 billion Washington State Investment Board, Olympia, and $1 billion Texas Tech University System endowment, Lubbock.
