Esther Chan was hired at Ashmore Group to oversee investments in emerging markets corporate credit.
Ms. Chan, who had previously worked as a senior investment manager covering corporate debt at Aberdeen Asset Management, said she started Monday, reporting to Robin Forrest, head of corporate debt. Ashmore oversees $75 billion in assets.
The firm, which specializes in emerging markets, reported $1.6 billion of net inflows and increased its funds under management by 7% in the three months ended June 30 as investors returned to developing markets assets.
Ms. Chan's responsibilities at Aberdeen were taken on by Siddharth Dahiya in the newly created position of head of emerging markets corporate debt.
