Jason Lejonvarn was appointed London-based global investment strategist at Mellon Capital Management, a spokesman said.
The position is new. Mr. Lejonvarn, who started Monday, works with the firm’s global distribution and client services teams to develop strategies across asset classes. He reports to Jeff Zhang, executive vice president and chief investment officer for Mellon Capital.
The spokesman said there were no near-term plans to add further staff, but that the firm will continue to evaluate the situation.
Mr. Lejonvarn was previously a strategist specializing in commodities at Hermes Fund Managers. A spokeswoman for Hermes said he had not been replaced.
Mellon Capital Management — an investment boutique owned by Bank of New York Mellon — has $379.9 billion in assets under management.
