Robeco Institutional Asset Management will manage assets of a newly created private equity joint venture that will make investments in environmentally supportive, low-carbon projects throughout Asia.
Asia Climate Partners is a joint venture among Robeco, its parent company ORIX Corp. and the Asian Development Bank. With initial seeding of $400 million by the founding partners, ACP will make commercially oriented investments in renewable energy, clean technology, water and other climate-friendly companies. The venture will be based in Hong Kong.
“This is a milestone in our successful cooperation with ORIX and is further evidence of our growing commitment to creating attractive new investment opportunities in Asia for our institutional investor partners around the world,” said Leni Boeren, a member of Robeco’s management board, in a news release by the firm.
“We believe that ACP provides an innovative platform to deploy capital into climate-related transactions across Asia that are designed to generate attractive returns,” said Todd Freeland, director general of ADB’s private sector operations department, in the release.
Spokesmen for Robeco could not be reached for further comment.
