A three-person European high-yield bond investment team joined Shenkman Capital Management, said Nicholas Keyes, senior vice president and director of business development.
Curt Schibli joined the firm as senior vice president, portfolio manager; Jonathan Goble was named senior vice president, senior credit analyst for European high-yield investments; and Oliver Chamberlain is vice president, European high-yield trader. The positions are new.
Although Mr. Keyes declined to disclose where the team previously worked, sources familiar with the matter said the three executives were previously at Brookfield Investment Management.
Brookfield spokesman Andrew Willis confirmed the team worked at Brookfield and moved to Shenkman. Brookfield does not plan to replace these specific roles, he said.
European high-yield credit is a new area for Shenkman. The new investment strategies consist of two European high-yield strategies and a global high-yield strategy, all of which are overseen by Mr. Schibli.
Mr. Keyes added that expanding into European high yield “will also pave the way for (more) global credit offerings” from Shenkman in the future.
The team will report to Mark R. Shenkman, president and chief investment officer.
Shenkman had $24.1 billion in assets under management as of Dec. 31, according to Pensions & Investments data.
