Michael Ryan was named head of public equity at Harvard Management Co., a new position, said company spokesman Lex Suvanto.
Mr. Ryan, who starts in September, will play a lead role in overseeing the strategy and performance of HMC’s global equity portfolio. He will also oversee and develop the company’s internal investment activity and enhance HMC’s external management relationships.
He will report directly to Stephen Blyth, managing director and head of public markets at HMC.
HMC manages the $32 billion endowment of Cambridge, Mass.-based Harvard University.
Mr. Ryan was head of global securities at Credit Suisse. A spokeswoman wasn’t available to discuss whether and how he’ll be replaced.
