Hanneke Smits, chief investment officer and head of the primary team at private equity fund-of-funds manager Adams Street Partners, is leaving the firm, spokesman Martin Gawne said.
Ms. Smits has decided to have a “career break,” a written statement said. She will remain at the firm at least through the end of 2014.
Kelly Meldrum, a partner on the primary team, will take over Ms. Smits’ role as head of the primary team. Ms. Meldrum joined Adams Street in 2006 when she opened the firm’s Menlo Park, Calif., office.
Adams Street executives are currently parceling out her duties and will decide at the end of the year whether to fill the CIO role, Mr. Gawne said.
Separately, it was announced that Jeff Diehl, a partner on Adams Streets’ direct venture capital and growth equity team is joining the firm’s executive committee. Mr. Diehl is being added to the committee “in recognition of his leadership in the firm,” Mr. Gawne said. Mr. Diehl joined Adams Street in 2000.
