Coweta County, Newnan, Ga., hired BB&T Corp. as investment consultant for its defined benefit plan and two defined contribution plans, said Kelly Mickle, assistant county administrator, in an e-mail.
The county issued an RFP in March to “formalize the process,” Ms. Mickle had said at the time. Incumbent consultant Griffith Financial was invited to rebid but did not do so.
Other finalists were Investment Research & Advisory Group and Segal Rogerscasey.
The pension fund, which was closed to new hires in June 2006, has $46 million in assets. The 457 plan and 401(a) plan have $4 million and $3 million in assets, respectively.
