Thorsten Becker, Arun Daniel and Vincent Rivers have been named portfolio managers and Eric Yi has been hired as a trader at J O Hambro Capital Management, said company spokesman Tucker Hewes.
The four will manage the firm's new U.S. smidcap equity strategy, to be launched later this quarter. Capacity for the strategy has been set at $5 billion. The team is based in Boston and also plans to launch a global smidcap equity strategy. J O Hambro does not currently manage any smidcap strategies.
They will report to Sandy Black, investment director at J O Hambro.
Messrs. Becker, Daniel, Rivers and Yi were part of the U.S. smidcap core equity team at Pyramis Global Advisors, a subsidiary of Fidelity Investments.
Their responsibilities have been redistributed within Pyramis' investment team, said Fidelity spokesman Charles Keller.
J O Hambro Capital Management has $22.7 billion in assets under management.
