Bertrand Biragnet was named head of pan-European equities at Universities Superannuation Scheme Investment Management, which manages the £42 billion ($71.3 billion) USS, Liverpool, England, spokesman James Morgan said.
Mr. Biragnet will replace Ben Levenstein, who joined USS' private market groups in the newly created position of senior investment manager strategic investments.
Mr. Biragnet will oversee a team of four, which is responsible for managing an equity allocation for the U.K. pension fund, according to a news release. He will report to Elizabeth Fernando, head of equities.
The equities portfolio makes up about 50% of the entire pension fund's assets, with the entire pan-European team overseeing about 27% of the total pension fund.
Previously, Mr. Biragnet was a global equity manager at RIT Capital Partners. Ben Fry, spokesman for RIT Capital Partners, could not provide information on Mr. Biragnet's replacement by press time.
