Sheila Nicoll was appointed head of public policy at Schroders, a spokeswoman said.
The position is new, and Ms. Nicoll will start in September. She will report to Massimo Tosato, executive vice chairman and global head of distribution.
The role will enhance Schroders' regulatory engagement on a global level, Mr. Tosato said in a news release.
Ms. Nicoll was previously senior adviser at Ernst & Young, focusing on asset management. A spokesman was not available to comment by press time. Prior to that, Ms. Nicoll was director, conduct policy, at the Financial Services Authority.
“The depth of (Ms. Nicoll's) expertise in public policy and regulation is unparalleled,” Mr. Tosato said in the news release. “The pragmatic approach she has adopted throughout her career will be invaluable in helping us contribute more actively to the significant changes the industry will face in the coming years.”
