Niall Ferguson joined Barclays' corporate and employer solutions business as business development director, a spokeswoman said.
It is a new position.
Mr. Ferguson is responsible for supporting the defined contribution investment consulting team at Barclays, which was launched last year.
Mr. Ferguson was previously national partnership manager at NOW: Pensions, managing both new business and ongoing relationships. A spokeswoman said the company restructured the team to absorb Mr. Ferguson's responsibilities.
