A wrapup of 2013 chief executive compensation at publicly traded U.S. corporations
Size matters: Median CEO compensation at S&P 500 companies was just below $10 million in 2013. Chief executives at large-cap firms had the highest pay, while those at small-cap firms saw the greatest increase.
The biggest bumps: Chief executives of financial and telecom companies received the largest pay gains in 2013.
Pay/performance disconnect: Shareholder returns and CEO compensation do not always go hand in hand.
