Jeremy Thiessen was named senior director of investment strategy at TIAA-CREF Tuition Financing, said Chad Peterson, spokesman at TIAA-CREF.
The unit is the division of TIAA-CREF that manages state-sponsored 529 college savings plans.
Mr. Thiessen, who will start later this month, will “work collaboratively with our state clients and their intermediaries to shape the direction and design of our 529 investment strategies and asset allocation recommendations,” wrote Mr. Peterson in an e-mail.
Mr. Thiessen replaced Ed Mihallo, who left TIAA-CREF to pursue other opportunities, wrote Mr. Peterson.
Previously, Mr. Thiessen was a managing director at Pension Consulting Alliance, where he led the investment consulting firm's 529 practice, according to a news release from PCA. The 529 team will now be led by Eric White, principal, according to the release.
