Rene Buehlmann was appointed as the next head of the Asia-Pacific region for UBS Global Asset Management, according to an internal UBS memo obtained by Pensions & Investments.
Effective July 1, Mr. Buehlmann will take over the Hong Kong-based role from Kai Sotorp, who will leave at the end of June to become president and CEO of Manulife Asset Management.
Mr. Buehlmann will report to Ulrich Koerner, CEO of UBS Global Asset Management, and Chi-Won Yoon, CEO of UBS’ Asia-Pacific group.
Mr. Buehlmann currently serves as global head of investment funds with UBS Wealth Management. Mark Panday, a Hong Kong-based UBS spokesman, confirmed the contents of the memo, and said there’s no immediate information regarding a replacement for Mr. Buehlmann’s wealth management position.
