Paul Abberley joined investment management firm Charles Stanley & Co. as chief investment officer, a spokesman said.
The position is new. Mr. Abberley reports to Anthony Scott, group director and head of investment management. Mr. Abberley is responsible for communicating the group's investment strategy, leading the investment strategy committee and coordinating the firm's private client research output.
Mr. Abberley was previously head of investments at Aviva Investors; he left in November. A spokeswoman for Aviva Investors said he has not been directly replaced. Prior to that, he was interim CEO; Euan Munro now holds the permanent position.
“This appointment underlines the commitment at Charles Stanley to providing clients and investment managers with the very best research function in the investment management industry, and the importance of the chief investment officer's role cannot be understated in the current regulatory climate,” Mr. Scott said in a news release.
