Real estate investment trusts (measured by the FTSE NAREIT All REITs index) returned 14.8% through the first five months of the year – far and away the best-performing asset class among those that can be tracked by indexes with daily pricing.
Across other broad asset classes, international fixed income (Barclays Global Aggregate ex-U.S.) was up 4.4%, the Russell 3000 gained 4.3%, and U.S. high yield gained 4.2% through May 31.
