Bartosz Pawlowski was appointed portfolio manager for Finisterre Capital’s sovereign debt fund, a spokesman said.
The position is new for the $2.1 billion absolute-return emerging markets manager.
Mr. Pawlowski will work initially as an internal strategist looking at existing trades. He will progressively suggest new trades to other portfolio managers and will later receive a capital allocation within the fund.
He was previously global head of emerging market strategy at BNP Paribas, where he managed a global team of FX, rates and credit strategists. A spokeswoman for BNP Paribas could not be reached for comment by press time.
“(Mr. Pawlowski) has excellent emerging markets experience, especially in his understanding of monetary policy, which is particularly valuable in the current market,” said Paul Crean, chief investment officer at Finisterre Capital, in a news release.
