John P. Gianukakis was named vice president and treasurer at Frontier Communications Corp., Stamford, Conn., according to company spokeswoman Brigid M. Smith.
Mr. Gianukakis replaced Robert Starr, who left the company.
Mr. Gianukakis will lead Frontier’s treasury operation and improve its corporate treasury activities, including cash management, capital markets and pension fund investments. He will report to John M. Jureller, executive vice president and chief financial officer.
As of Dec. 31, the fair value of pension plan assets totaled $1.217 billion, according to the firm's most recent 10-K filing.
Mr. Gianukakis was senior vice president finance and treasurer of Castleton Commodities International. It could not be learned by press time whether he was replaced. Samia Qader, a spokeswoman for Castleton Commodities, could not be reached.
