Michael Spink was appointed defined contribution pension consultant at actuarial and administration specialist Spence & Partners, a spokesman said.
The position is new, and Mr. Spink has already started in the London-based role.
Mr. Spink is lead DC consultant on both employer and trustee DC projects, including for automatic enrollment. He will also develop the DC offering for small and medium institutional clients.
He also works with the firm’s sister company, Dalriada Trustees, providing DC consultancy support.
“DC membership now accounts for 30% of workplace pensions membership, up from 27% last year and, of course, this figure is expected to rise exponentially in the coming years as (small and medium enterprises) reach their staging dates for auto enrollment,” said Brian Spence, founder of Spence & Partners, in a news release. “(Mr. Spink) has a strong reputation in the market, gained over his 30 years within both DB and DC pensions consultancy, and he will greatly enhance our existing team as we look to grow our DC offering.”
Mr. Spink was previously a principal at Aon Hewitt. He left the firm in mid-2013. An Aon Hewitt spokesman was not available to comment by press time.
