David Walsh joined Investcorp on Monday as vice president in the alternative investment manager's single hedge fund manager business.
It is a new position. Mr. Walsh, based in New York, will identify emerging hedge fund managers, and structure and develop relationships with them, wrote Nick Vamvakas, managing director and head of Investcorp's single hedge fund manager business, in an e-mail.
The single manager unit establishes relationships with early-stage hedge fund companies and provides them with seed and acceleration capital, as well as strategic advice and distribution support.
Mr. Walsh reports to Mr. Vamvakas.
Prior to joining Investcorp, Mr. Walsh was a director in UBS' prime brokerage and capital introduction business.
Investcorp managed a total of $11 billion as of March 31. The hedge fund group managed about $5 billion in three main strategies as of the same date: $2.5 billion in hedge funds of funds; $2.2 billion in single manager seeding and acceleration deals; and $250 million in special opportunities strategies.
