Jean-Louis Scandella was appointed head of equities at Baring Asset Management, a spokeswoman said.
Mr. Scandella replaces Tim Scholefield, who left at the end of April, the spokeswoman said. He will be based in London and start June 2.
Mr. Scandella will report to Marino Valensise, chief investment officer, and will lead Barings' equity teams that are based in London and Hong Kong. He will also join the investment committee and will be chairman of the global sector teams.
He was previously part of the leadership team at French equity boutique Comgest. Spokesmen could not be reached for comment by press time. Mr. Scandella's previous role could not be learned by press time.
