William Hatanaka, president and CEO of OPTrust, will step down Sept. 30, said spokeswoman Karen Danylak.
Mr. Hatanaka will work with the board of OPTrust, which manages the assets of the C$16 billion (US$14.6 billion) Ontario Public Service Employees Union Pension Plan, Toronto, to help find his replacement, Ms. Danylak said.
Mr. Hatanaka took over as president and CEO in November 2012; he had previously been group head, wealth management, at TD Financial.
“I plan to focus on ensuring a smooth transition for OPTrust over the next several months,” Mr. Hatanaka said in an e-mail. “After that, I'll look for my next interesting and significant business challenge.” He didn't elaborate.
