Richard Williams was appointed chief investment risk officer at RPMI Railpen, said a spokeswoman.
The position is new and is part of the in-house money manager's investment leadership team. RPMI Railpen manages the £20 billion ($33.8 billion) Railways Pension Scheme portfolio. The team also includes Paul Bishop and Ciaran Barr, both investment directors at the firm. Mr. Williams reports to RPMI Railpen CEO Chris Hitchen. The spokeswoman said Mr. Williams started April 22.
Mr. Williams was most recently a partner at hedge fund manager BlueCrest Capital Management (UK). Ed Orlebar, spokesman for BlueCrest Capital Management, did not respond to a request for comment by press time.
Mr. Hitchen, in a news release, said Mr. Williams' appointment “is a key development for the business as we strengthen our internal capabilities to ensure that we can implement our investment ideas in the most efficient, effective way.”
