Morgan Wurst was named executive director of the Georgia Firefighters Pension Fund, Conyers, effective May 1, Mr. Wurst said.
Mr. Wurst will replace James Meynard, who will retire April 30. Mr. Meynard has been executive director of the $740 million pension fund since 2002.
The executive director position also includes oversight of the investment management of the pension fund.
Mr. Wurst was previously assistant treasurer of the pension fund. He has held the temporary position of deputy director, assuming some of Mr. Meynard's responsibilities, since December. The pension fund is currently searching for his replacement as assistant treasurer.
