Arkansas Teacher Retirement System, Little Rock, made new real estate and private equity commitments totaling up to $85 million, said George Hopkins, executive director.
The $14.1 billion pension fund committed up to $30 million each to opportunistic real estate funds Carlyle Realty Partners Fund VII, managed by Carlyle Group, and LaSalle Asia Opportunity Fund IV, managed by LaSalle Investment Management.
It is the first commitment for the pension fund to a Carlyle fund. The pension fund committed up to $20 million to LaSalle Income & Growth Fund VI in April 2013.
The pension fund also committed up to $25 million to Thoma Bravo XI, a software- and technology-focused buyout fund. It is the pension fund's first commitment to a Thoma Bravo fund.
Separately, the pension fund added Russell Implementation Services to its list of preapproved transition managers. The pension fund previously had two transition managers on its list, BlackRock and State Street.
