Simon Cox joined BNY Mellon Investment Management in Hong Kong as a managing director and investment strategist for the Asia-Pacific region.
The position was created in 2012 and filled briefly in August of that year by Paul Schulte, who left soon after for personal reasons, according to a spokesman for BNY Mellon.
Mr. Cox was Asia economics editor for The Economist, according to a BNY Mellon news release. He had been based in Hong Kong over the last four years, focusing on China's economy. Mr. Cox couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
Jack Malvey, BNY Mellon’s chief global market strategist for investment management, said “original thinking” is a key to generating alpha, and “we look forward to Simon’s contributions” in that regard, according to the news release.
