New York State Teachers' Retirement System, Albany, is seeking a manager of external public equities, according to a notice posted on the $103 billion pension fund's website.
The manager of external public equities will be responsible for supervising the pension fund's public equity team and for conducting searches for public equity managers for both domestic equity and international equity investments, the website said.
“Duties will include screening public equity manager databases for potential candidates, conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis of strategies, conducting manager interviews, documenting analysis and recommendations, monitoring managers in NYSTRS' lineup and general oversight of NYSTRS' externally managed public equity investments,” the website said.
The manager of external public equities will report to Fred Herrmann, the managing director of public equities.
The manager's job had been held by Noreen Jones, who was promoted in August to director of risk management, a new position, according to Heidi Brennan, a spokeswoman for the pension fund. Mr. Herrmann and other members of the public equities team have been handling the additional responsibilities, Ms. Brennan wrote in an e-mail.
The job posting is available on NYSTRS' website. Candidates should mail an application to: NYSTRS/HR, 10 Corporate Woods Drive, Albany, NY 12211.
