At the end of 2013, domestic equity mutual funds held the highest share of defined contribution assets since 2007. Domestic equity funds’ share of total DC assets rose 4.1 percentage points for the year to 46.8%.
Bond funds fell to 12.2% of total assets, down from 15.6% a year earlier.
Despite an absolute increase in assets of 22% in 2013, hybrid funds (which includes lifecycle and lifestyle mutual funds), saw their first (albeit slight) decline as a percentage of total assets since 1999, to 23.06% from 23.13%.
