San Francisco City & County Employees' Retirement System is searching for an actuarial consultant, said Norm Nickens, secretary to the retirement board.
The $19 billion pension fund is conducting the search because of a requirement that services are put up for bid every five years. Incumbent Cheiron is invited to rebid.
The pension fund's board approved at its meeting Wednesday the issuing of a request for proposals. The RFP should posted by Friday on the pension fund's website, Mr. Nickens said.
Separately, the pension fund committed up to $50 million to private equity fund Thoma Bravo Fund XI. The pension fund's previous commitment to the manager was up to $15 million to Thoma Bravo Special Opportunity Fund in July 2013.
The pension fund also committed up to $50 million to Vista Equity Partners Fund V, a software- and technology-focused buyout fund. The pension fund previously committed $50 million to middle-market buyout fund Vista Foundation Fund II in May 2013.
