The Dow Jones UBS-Commodity Index will be renamed Bloomberg Commodity Index effective July 1, following an announcement Thursday of a new strategic partnership between Bloomberg and UBS.
The flagship index offers exposure to 22 commodities via the most liquid futures contracts. There is also a set of subindexes in the newly branded Bloomberg Commodity Index family.
“In terms of the exposure of the index provides there should be no difference come July 1,” said Srikant Dash, head of Bloomberg Indexes, in a telephone interview. “When the name change happens, we expect to continue with the same set of inclusion rules and rebalancing processes the market is used to.”
“(The index family) will be independently overseen by Bloomberg including governance of indexes, rules of indexes, (and) calculation and dissemination of indexes,” said Mr. Dash.
The index family was launched in 1998. Information regarding the transition can be found on the Bloomberg Indexes website.
