Alistair Byrne was appointed as senior defined contribution strategist in State Street Global Advisors' London office, said Nicolette Botbol, a company spokeswoman.
The position is new. Mr. Byrne is responsible for “expanding SSgA's defined contribution product offering and building on the recent launch of Timewise, SSgA's range of target-date retirement funds,” according to a news release. He reports to Nigel Aston, managing director and head of defined contribution in the U.K., the news release said.
“The U.K. DC market is growing rapidly and Alistair's appointment reflects SSgA's continued commitment to meeting the changing needs of our clients as we continue to expand our DC offering,” Mr. Aston said in the news release.
Mr. Byrne was a London-based senior consultant for Towers Watson's U.K. defined contribution investment business, spokesman Ed Emerman wrote in an e-mail. Mr. Emerman added that he didn't have any information on whether Mr. Byrne would be replaced.
