Michael Wyrsch has been appointed chief investment officer of Vision Super, effective June 2, according to an announcement Monday from the A$7 billion (US$6.5 billion) Melbourne-based superannuation fund.
The position is new. Mr. Wyrsch is coming to Vision Super from investment consulting firm Frontier Advisors, where he has served for 16 years, most recently as a senior investment consultant.
Mr. Wyrsch's responsibilities will include overseeing Vision Super's internal investment process and strengthening its “core internal investment capabilities,” according to a news release. Stephen Rowe, Vision Super's CEO, couldn't be reached immediately for further comment.
Wayne Sullivan, a spokesman for Frontier Advisors, said Mr. Wyrsch will be replaced but, in contrast to the outgoing veteran's broad experience and skill set, noted that the firm's more recent senior hires have been “very specialized” in market segments such as equities or real estate.
