Colin Taylor joined Legg Mason in Melbourne, Australia, as a director of sales.
The position is new, a Legg Mason spokesman said.
Mr. Taylor was vice president, institutional business at J.P. Morgan Asset Management. A J.P. Morgan spokesman didn't immediately have information about plans to replace Mr. Taylor.
