Larry Powell resigned as deputy chief investment officer of the $24 billion Utah Retirement Systems, Salt Lake City, said Daniel D. Andersen, executive director.
Mr. Powell left last month; Mr. Andersen said he was not aware of Mr. Powell's plans and declined to say why he resigned. He will not be immediately replaced because pension fund officials are formulating a five-year plan to review all parts of the operation.
Mr. Powell could not be reached to provide further information. Bruce Cundick, chief investment officer; Richard Ellis, Utah state treasurer and retirement board president; Todd W. Rupp, deputy executive director; and Jeff J. Allen, chief information officer, did not return phone calls by press time.
