Texas Employees Retirement System, Austin, committed $250 million to five alternative investment funds in February, according to the $25.3 billion pension fund's monthly investment report.
Campus Clarion Student Housing Partners received a $65 million commitment. Managed by Clarion Partners, the value-added fund seeks properties in select university markets, according to the ERS report.
Hammes Partners II, which invests in medical office and ambulatory care properties, was given a $50 million commitment. The fund is managed by Hammes Co.
ERS also committed $10 million to Invesco Real Estate Asia Fund, which invests in core properties in prime Asian markets, said Mary Jane Wardlow, a spokeswoman for the pension fund, in an e-mail.
The pension fund has committed a total of $342 million in eight real estate funds in the fiscal year-to-date through Feb. 28, the investment report said. The pension fund's year-end is Aug. 31.
Separately, the pension fund committed $100 million to Castlelake III, a private equity fund that will invest in U.S. and European distressed debt, the February report said.
A $25 million commitment was made to an unidentified, energy-related special situations private equity co-investment. Ms. Wardlow could not immediately identify the private equity firm offering the co-investment opportunity.
ERS committed a total of $438 million in nine private equity funds or co-investments in the fiscal year-to-date through Feb. 28.
