Context Asset Management, a newly formed alternative investment mutual fund manager, on Wednesday launched its first fund, Context Alternative Strategies Fund.
The new fund was seeded with $40 million from a family office that CEO Steve Kneeley said in an interview he couldn’t name.
Portfolio managers for the multistrategy hedge fund-of-funds mutual fund are Andrew Dudley, senior portfolio manager, and Jason Myers, portfolio manager.
Subadvisers for the mutual fund are Armory Funds (high-yield distressed debt); Del Mar Asset Management (managed futures); ESM Management (structured credit); First Principles Capital Management (fixed-income relative value); Highland Capital Management (energy and materials special equity); Kellner Capital (merger arbitrage); Phineuas Partners (global long/short equity); and Weatherbie Capital (market-neutral long/short equity).
John Culbertson, Context’s chief investment officer and a managing director, said the firm also is developing single hedge fund manager mutual funds that will be offered before the end of the year.
