Wayne Daniel was named vice president, U.S. pensions, at MetLife, said company spokeswoman Kim Friedman.
Mr. Daniel replaces Edward Root, who joined Towers Watson as a senior adviser and senior pension risk transfer expert in November.
Beginning in May, Mr. Daniel will lead the firm's U.S. pensions team, which is part of MetLife's corporate benefit funding division. He will report to Robin Lenna, executive vice president and head of corporate benefit funding at MetLife.
Mr. Daniel is CEO of MetLife Assurance, a U.K. subsidiary of MetLife. He will continue in this role until the sale of MetLife Assurance to Rothesay Life is completed in the second quarter of 2014. Once the sale is complete, Rothesay Life will appoint a new board and CEO, according to Ms. Friedman.
