Christopher Jones has been named chief investment officer for stocks in the Americas at BlackRock.
He replaces Chris Leavy, who went on medical leave in June.
Mr. Jones, along with Nigel Bolton, head of BlackRock's European equity team, also will be co-heads of fundamental equity, newly created roles.
Mr. Jones was CIO for J.P. Morgan Asset Management's growth and small-cap U.S. equity team. Eytan Shapiro, portfolio manager of the firm's U.S. small-cap growth strategies, will take over as head of the growth team, according to company spokeswoman Kristen Chambers.
