Ohio School Employees Retirement System, Columbus, returned 16.1% net of fees in the year ended Dec. 31, confirmed Farouki Majeed, director of investments.
The $12.1 billion pension fund outperformed its benchmark by 77 basis points, according to Mr. Majeed. The pension fund’s best-performing asset class was domestic equity at 35.3%, followed by private equity with 17.32% and international equity, 16.85%.
The rest of the returns, by asset class, were global real assets, 10.95%; multiasset strategies, 9.8%; and global fixed income, -0.6%.
As of Dec. 31, the pension fund’s actual allocation was 26.2% domestic equity, 25.8% international equity, 15.2% global fixed income, 11.9% multiasset strategies, 10.4% global real assets. 8.9% private equity, 1.4% short-term investments and 0.2% opportunistic strategies.
