Michael McGirr and Erin McCafferty joined the private equity team of the $57.9 billion Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Management Board, confirmed spokesman Michael Sherry in an e-mail.
Mr. McGirr was named senior investment officer for the Boston-based fund, replacing Scott Hutchins, who left PRIM to join Solamere Capital. Ms. McCafferty, named investment officer, is filling a position left vacant by Mr. Hutchins after he was promoted to senior investment officer in 2011.
Beginning April 7, the two will help to run a $6 billion private equity portfolio. They will report to Michael Bailey, a senior investment officer and the director of private equity at PRIM.
Mr. McGirr was an investment manager in partner investments at Bain Capital, while Ms. McCafferty was a vice president at Bank of America Capital Advisors. Bain Capital spokesman Alex Stanton did not return a phone call seeking information on a replacement. Ms. McCafferty’s post was filled by Emily DeGrado, according to Bank of America spokeswoman Susan Atran.
