Christopher McDonough was named director of investments of the New Jersey Division of Investment, Trenton, confirmed Christopher Santarelli, a spokesman for the state Department of Treasury.
Mr. McDonough replaces Timothy M. Walsh, who left in August to join GAW Capital North America as president and chief operating officer. Mr. McDonough, who was a deputy directory, had been serving as acting director since then.
Michael Wszolek, head trader, has been serving as acting deputy director and will continue in that role until Mr. McDonough considers all his options for the position, Mr. Santarelli said.
The Division of Investment, which is part of the state Treasury Department, manages investments for the $76.8 billion New Jersey Pension Fund.
Mr. McDonough was chief investment officer of the $4.5 billion Philadelphia Board of Pensions and Retirement before coming to New Jersey in 2011.
