The HFRI Fund Weighted Composite index rose 2.1% in February, its biggest one-month gain in more than a year, according to Hedge Fund Research. Through the first two months the composite index is up 1.54%. Equity hedge strategies gained 2.85% in February (up 1.84% for the year), followed by event-driven strategies - up 2.08% in the month (up 2.1% for the year).
HFR said gains from commodity, emerging markets, commodity trading advisers and discretionary macro strategies led the macro index to its highest one-month return (1.4%) since July 2012.
