Kent Thexton was named managing director at OMERS Ventures, the venture capital investment arm of the C$65.1 billion (US$58.9 billion) Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System, Toronto.
The position is new. Mr. Thexton will oversee OMERS Ventures' North American technology, media, and telecommunications investments.
OMERS Ventures has C$200 million in its first fund but is working on a final close for OMERS Ventures II, said John Ruffolo, CEO of OMERS Ventures, in a separate e-mailed response to questions.
